World Liberty Congress Calls To Stand Up For Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk

And demands the immediate release of the political prisoner.

Dissidents from all over the world, freedom fighters, opposition leaders from their countries, members of the World Liberty Congress, express their solidarity with the political prisoner, activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, and требуют her immediate release.

“WLC condemns the systematic violation of human rights by Lukashenko´s regime and calls for the democratic world to stand and raise their voices for Palina”.

Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was detained on January 3, 2021. The police broke down the door of the apartment, conducted a search, confiscated a number of things, detained Palina, and took her in handcuffs to the temporary detention center. She was later transferred to a pre-trial detention center.

On June 9, 2021, the Maskouski District Court of Brest sentenced her to two years in prison.

In the spring of 2022, she was not released; a criminal case was opened against Palina under Part 1 of Article 411 of the Criminal Code, and she was sentenced to an additional year in prison.

But in the spring of 2023, she was not released either: under Article 411, the political prisoner received another year in prison. Over the years, she was placed in solitary confinement several times, and was also sent to the cell-type premises for six months. Palina remains in complete isolation. In the colony, the European Belarus activist's health has deteriorated significantly.

The political prisoner was supposed to be released in May 2024, but the regime accused her of “disobeying the prison administration.”
