Willpower: 98-Year-Old Ukrainian Woman Walked Through Entire Frontline Under Shelling

She walked from the occupied Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region.

A 98-year-old Ukrainian woman walked out of the occupied Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region.

Censor.NET. learned of it from the National Police.

The woman walked all day, covering about 10 km under shelling.

"Lydia Stepanovna crossed the entire frontline under shelling, covered about 10 km, fell twice – but at all costs she tried to get to the free Ukrainian territory. The house, which a resident of Ocheretyne built with her own hands, was destroyed by the Russians, and her relatives were injured. Fleeing from the invaders, a woman did the impossible in her 98 years.

Lydia Stepanovna walked all day, without food and water, she fell down several times without strength and, as she says, "fell asleep". She held on to two sticks and "willpower". In the midst of the fighting, the old woman miraculously remained alive and unharmed. By the evening, the Ukrainian troops saw a tired traveller on the road and handed her over to the White Angel police group. The police took the resident to a shelter for evacuees, where they took care of her," the report reads.

Now the woman is feeling well.

"I survived the previous war and I am experiencing this war. I’ve lost everything. But I left thanks to my Ukraine on my own feet," she said.
