He was 47 years old.

Aliaksei Staravoytau, former head of Vitsebsk penal colony No. 3 'Vitba,' has died. He was 47 years old. He was in charge of the colony until the summer of 2023, writes MAYDAY.

The cause of Staravoytau's death is unknown. The man worked in the penal colony-3 almost all his life.

In 1998, he came to work at the colony as a controller. He stayed in the role of chief for about five years.

It is known that Aliaksei Staravoytau put pressure on political prisoners in the colony and forced the "political" ones to write petitions for pardon in the name of Lukashenka.

We remind you that in May 2023, political prisoner Mikalai Klimovich, convicted to a year in prison for a cartoon about Lukashenka, who had the second group of disability due to heart disease, died in the penal colony-3.

However, it is known that the subsequent dismissal of Aliaksei Staravoytau was not related to the incident.

Later, another political prisoner, Vadzim Khrasko, died in this colony.
