Poland to spend $42 billion on defense
The Polish Sejm has approved the draft state budget for 2025 with revenues of $145 billion and expenditures of $211 billion.
This is reported by the publication Wprost. The budget includes the highest defense spending in the country's history — $42 billion, or 4.7% of GDP.
The budget also significantly increases funds for healthcare — up to $50 billion. For social programs, including pension indexation — $30 billion.
The draft budget for 2025 provides for an increase in average wages by 7%, including 5% for public sector employees. The budget was calculated based on a forecast of inflation at 5% and economic growth at 3.9% in 2025.
After the Sejm adopted the Budget Law, the document was sent to the Senate, which now has 20 days to make amendments.
