'2024 Saw Series Of Historic Events'

The collapse of Moscow's imperialism has already begun.

Ukrainian expert, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Petro Chernik in an interview with Charter97.org named five main events of the outgoing year:

— We see the countries of the Global South, the countries of the "Asian World", the world of tyrannies. It so happens that 70% of the states in the world are dictatorships and authoritarian regimes, only 30% are democracies. The Global South is certainly not homogeneous. There is Brazil, which cannot be called dictatorial. However, the struggle between these blocks is gaining momentum. Ukraine has become a platform for the struggle of these giants that have formed.

This year, just a few weeks ago, a landmark event took place. The delineated Axis of Evil — China, North Korea, Russia and Iran — suffered a serious defeat after the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria. The West gave a serious answer. We understand that the rebels themselves could not organize such a quick and successful operation. It was coordinated by serious special services — British, French and American, as well as Turkish. Here, in the direction of Turkey, you need to make a curtsy. Ankara remembered that there was once an Ottoman Empire. This is both good and bad for us at the same time. Ottomanism is rather unsafe, but this confirms another of my theses — the cascade of small, medium and large wars will only grow.

Another landmark event is the Peace Summit, which was held in June 2024. We didn't pay him enough attention. But if we tie Donald Trump's victory in the United States to this event, we can say that this is the beginning of the search for a formula for getting out of this phase of the war. It is the phases, because this war will not end. Therefore, next year, although I do not like this term, there will be a "freeze". It would be very good if a large peacekeeping contingent appeared in Ukraine — the French, Germans, British, and so on. The more the better. After all, this war will really end only when the Russian Federation disintegrates, the Kremlin will lose nuclear weapons and will be cut off from free Siberian resources, and two more generations of Russians (and this is about 60 years) will undergo 'rehabilitation' — purification from imperial greatness.

The collapse of Moscow's imperialism has already begun. This is evidenced by the flight from Syria. Russia has spent billions of dollars, lost its prestige. Another important event is that Russia has lost second place among the countries-exporters of weapons. Since the 60s, the USSR, and then Russia, held this place. The French beat them for the first time. The weakening of their defence industry potential will continue. Naturally, this is not a one-time process, it will take not a year or two.

Another historic event is the brilliant operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. The myth that “a nuclear country cannot be attacked” has been finally destroyed. We did not attack them, it is important to note that an operation was carried out to divert enemy troops from the Donetsk direction. We also showed our allies what we are capable of, and most importantly — it was a huge slap in Putin's face.

The operation began in August, now it is the end of December, and the Russians have reduced the bridgehead, which was recaptured by the Ukrainian forces, by only a few square kilometers. This is a real shame for the 'second army of the world. As we can see, it is possible to conduct auxiliary military operations against a state that waves a nuclear baton around the world and threatens to burn everyone in a 'nuclear apocalypse'.

To summarize, I would focus on five aspects. The first — the battle of the Global South against the Global North began, the second — democracy was fought on the Syrian bridgehead, the third — the summit in Switzerland gave rise to the search for a way out of this phase of the war, the fourth — the weakening of the defence industry of the Russian Federation, when their vaunted S-300 and S-400 systems can not intercept anything, the fifth — the revision of the nuclear doctrine of the Russian Federation, when a full-fledged military operation continues on its territory.

I think that some finalization of this phase of the war may happen next year. By the way, this can happen without any contract. Then the war will resume. Russian imperialism cannot afford to lose Ukraine. I believe that the loss of Ukraine for Moscow means a loss of the head. Not the eyes, not the ear, not the hands, but the head. So we have to defeat them.

Their historian Vasily Klyuchevsky wrote in black and white: "Russia is a threat to Ukraine. Ukraine is a threat to Russia." Only one remains.

— Who is the hero of the outgoing year?

— The Ukrainian nation, which is fighting not only for its survival, but also for the entire democratic world. After all, if we fall (this will not happen, but let's imagine), and the world will not give an answer, then the attack on Molodva, the Caucasus, the countries of Central Asia, NATO is a matter of time.

But today this is impossible, because the Russian Empire cannot exist without Ukraine. Russia's rise began only when Bohdan Khmelnytsky made a fatal mistake.
