Deputies from different political groups have sent a letter to the country's Defence Minister.
Five MPs from different political groups in France have sent a letter to the country's Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu. They urged him to send military instructors to Ukraine. About it reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Deputy Frederic Petit on X (Twitter).
‘The brutality of hostilities and growing Russian pressure in Donbass make us believe that the training of the army on the territory of France and Poland should now continue on Ukrainian soil,’ said the MP.
Petit added that the French military in Ukraine should not fight against the Russian army, but work on training Ukrainian soldiers who defend the integrity of their territory.
The French MPs said the response to Russia's involvement of thousands of North Korean troops should be to increase direct support for Ukraine.
‘As the prospects for possible negotiations become clearer, France and European countries must not show any sign of weakness and not allow their behaviour to be dictated by the red lines drawn by the Kremlin,’ Petit stressed.
France has provided the Ukrainian army with military aid, in particular artillery systems, armoured vehicles, shells, missiles, air defence equipment and other weapons.
In addition, Paris supports Ukraine politically and favours the continuation of its integration into the EU and NATO.
French President Emmanuel Macron was the first to suggest sending military instructors to Ukraine for training. However, no relevant decision has been taken so far.
