Trump's Victory Brings Record $63.5 Billion To The World's 10 Richest People

Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, and Warren Buffett earned the most in a day.

The fortune of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, grew by $26.5 billion on Wednesday, November 6, after Donald Trump won the US presidential election, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

At the same time, the value of the assets of the 10 richest people in the world increased by a total of $63.5 billion in a day. This is the largest daily increase since the Bloomberg Billionaires Index began to be calculated in 2012, Bloomberg reported.

Elon Musk became the leader in capital growth. He is followed by Larry Ellison, whose fortune grew by $9.88 billion in a day, and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett (+$7.58 billion). Also among the leaders in capital growth in the top ten richest people in the world were Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose assets grew by $7.14 billion in a day, and Google co-founder Larry Page with an increase of $5.53 billion.

At the same time, Ellison, Buffett, Bezos, and Page were surpassed in terms of the rate of increase in wealth by the founder of the Binance crypto exchange, Changpeng Zhao. His capital increased by $12.1 billion in a day, that is, by more than a third – from $40.6 billion to $52.7 billion. However, Zhao is not among the top 10 billionaires in the world (he is 25th in the Bloomberg rating), and therefore was not taken into account when calculating the total increase in the top ten rich people.

Most of the profit for billionaires is due to the growth of US stocks. The S&P 500 index jumped by 2.5% following the results of trading on Wednesday, November 6, which was the best indicator after the elections in history, the publication reported.

Tesla shares rose 15% in New York trading on Wednesday, extending their gains over the past year to 32%, as investors bet the automaker will be the main beneficiary of Donald Trump's presidential victory.
