The diplomat shared the details.
Donald Trump is a challenge for Ukraine, but also new opportunities. Now that he has been elected US President, Ukrainians need to put emotions aside and think about a new strategy with the new administration, as well as consider options for how to integrate their country into the strategic priorities of the United States.
First of all, Ukraine needs to think about what it can offer Trump. But these should not be general theses or some concepts that are “flying in the clouds”, but very specific things. This opinion was expressed by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, OBOZ.UA.
reports.
“He is an entrepreneur, a person who calculates everything on a calculator, who clearly and distinctly understands what he will earn or will not earn and from what. Therefore, I think that today the main task of the Ukrainian government is to give him very, very, very specific proposals on which he can earn money,” Ohryzko noted.
According to him, Ukraine definitely has several specific proposals that it could offer Trump. The first concerns weapons production.
"For example, the production of weapons for Ukraine. This is a topic that can provide hundreds of billions of dollars for the American economy. Return to the topic of lend-lease, which will again mean that the American economy will begin to work to provide Ukraine with the appropriate weapons. Return to the topic that former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mentioned, that after the end of the war, the Ukrainian armed forces can replace part of the American troops in Europe, again, saving the US money," said the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Also, according to him, it is possible to discuss the topic of nuclear energy with Trump.
"The topic of nuclear energy is an area that can give billions and billions of dollars to the American economy if it works for the needs of the nuclear energy of Ukraine and so on. That is, in fact, there are several such topics. We need to sit down, take a piece of paper, write down what and how we can do, and immediately pass these proposals to President Trump. Then we will have a substantive practical dialogue," Ohryzko said.
At the same time, Ohryzko noted that Trump's campaign promises may differ from what he will say and do after winning the election. Therefore, according to the diplomat, Ukraine can establish a more positive and constructive dialogue with the Trump administration.
