Including three of the seven “swing” states.
The decisive stage of voting in the US presidential election has begun in America — at 7:00 local time (15:00 Minsk time), polling stations opened in many states.
In particular, these include Georgia, Pennsylvania and Michigan (some stations here opened at 16:00 Minsk time) — three of the seven “swing” states on which the election results will depend, writes The Guardian.
Voting has also already begun in Alabama, Delaware, the District of Columbia (Washington), Florida (from 3:00 PM in some areas of the Florida District), New Hampshire (opening hours vary by county, the first polling stations opened at 2:00 PM Kyiv time), Illinois, Indiana, Kansas (depending on the county), Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Rhode Island (some polling stations open at 4:00 PM Kyiv time, 9:00 AM local time), South Carolina, and Wyoming. In 2024, the main battle will unfold for seven “swing” states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. It is ensuring support in these states that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have focused their efforts in the autumn of 2024, in particular trying to win the votes of those voters who have not yet decided in the last weeks before the election.
In the US, the first polling stations will close at 6:00 pm ET on Tuesday evening (02:00 Minsk time), and the last ones will close at 01:00 am ET early on Wednesday (09:00 Minsk time), according to the BBC.
