But it will not affect everyone.
Belarus will introduce one change for men from January 1, 2025. More specifically, the change concerns early retirement by age, writes Zerkalo.
Starting in 2025, men in Belarus will be able to retire early by age if they have raised a child with a disability. But there is an important condition - they did it without the mother's participation.
Early retirement will be assigned to the father instead of father when he turns 58 (women - at 53).
The standard retirement age in Belarus is 58 years for women and 63 years for men. The Ministry of Labor announced the day before that the issue of further increasing this figure is "not on the agenda."
But for this, several requirements must be met. The first is to raise a child at least until the age of 8. If for some reason he does not live to this age, there will be no early retirement (this rule also applies to women).
Another condition for a man is at least 25 years of work experience. Of these, 5 years of insurance experience, that is, with the payment of insurance contributions to the Social Security Fund. For mothers, these requirements are different - at least 20 years of work experience (of which 5 years of insurance).
And how does this (not) work now?
“Today, such a pension can be assigned to a father only after the child’s mother has formed the right to this pension and refused it in favor of the father or failed to exercise her right due to death,” the Ministry of Labor explains.
In practice, this scheme has a trap: a mother cannot refuse an early old-age pension in favor of a father if she does not have the right to such payments. For example, if she has not yet turned 53 or does not have enough experience. Moreover, one unfulfilled condition is enough for a woman not to be entitled to an early retirement pension. And even if a man in such a situation meets the requirements for such payments, he will not be able to receive them, even if the child's mother agrees to this.
"In the event of failure to fulfill one of the conditions, the right to an early retirement pension for the mother of a disabled child on this basis does not arise, therefore, the father of a disabled child (disabled from childhood) will not have the right to this type of pension," the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the Brest Regional Executive Committee clarifies.
