‘Uskhod’ Metro Station In Minsk Covered With Smoke

What happened?

Joint exercises of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the capital's underground were held at the ‘Uskhod’ underground station on the night of October 30, involving about 100 people and more than two dozen units of equipment. They were training to extinguish the train fire, said in Minsk city department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned in advance that a large number of emergency equipment would come to the ‘Uskhod’ underground station on the night of October 30.

According to the legend of the exercise, two carriages of the underground train caught fire - due to a malfunction of electrical equipment. The smoke from the fire was imitated at the ‘Uskhod’ metro station, it was necessary to save the victims.

Emergency Situations Ministry units arrived at the scene. In the course of rescue, four people were found.

With the help of stretchers they were taken out into the fresh air and handed over to the arriving medics of the MES special forces squad ‘Zubr’.

‘During the exercise, various assignments were worked out, including the elimination of fire in the sub-platform space and the provision of power supply by diesel generators at metro facilities,’ the Emergencies Ministry said.
