There has been no news about him for more than 600 days.

Dissidents from all over the world, freedom fighters, leaders of the opposition – members of the World Liberty Congress – express their solidarity with the leader of the Belarusian opposition, Mikalai Statkevich.

"Mikalai Statkevich, Belarusian opposition leader, has endured over 4.5 years of a 14-year sentence under the Lukashenka regime, held in solitary confinement with no news of him for more than two years.

The politician is kept in solitary confinement in hazardous conditions. Mikalai Statkevich's contracted COVID-19 twice while in jail. His life is in grave danger. WLC demands his immediate release and information about his health conditions!" the statement reads.

Mikalai Statkevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison, he was accused of "organizing mass riots" (Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of Belarus).

Since the beginning of July 2022 — since Mikalai Statkevich began serving his sentence in the Hlybokae prison — he has had 23 penalties. He got into a punishment cell for 7-10 days at least 9 times. The political prisoner met the New Year in a punishment cell.

Mikalai Statkevich is kept in the prison in the most severe conditions: the politician is kept in solitary confinement in hazardous conditions. It became known that in prison, Mikalai Statkevich had twice suffered COVID-19.

On March 20, Mikalai Statkevich's father died. The political prisoner was not allowed to farewell him.

On February 9, 2023, relatives and friends received the last news from Mikalai Statkevich. Since then, there has been no information about his fate: there are no messages from him, letters and parcels do not reach him.

There was information that he could die. Recall that the Editor-in-Chief of Charter97.org Natallia Radzina and the People's Assembly ("Narodnaia Hramada') party initiated an international support campaign "Show Statkevich!".

European politicians joined the action.
