Aircraft AN-3 Crashes In Russia

One person died.

Russian light multipurpose aircraft An-3 AK Borus crashed today, October 13, in Yakutia in the Olyokminsky district. As a result of the incident, one of the passengers died, writes RBC-Ukraine with a reference to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

The statement from the Russian Ministry indicates that the aircraft made an emergency landing 1.5 kilometers from the city of Olyokminsk.

“There were 5 people on board, including 3 crew members and 2 passengers,” the local emergency services said.

According to Russian media and Telegram channels, the aircraft was operating a flight from Olyokminsk to Zheleznogorsk.

Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of the crash was an engine failure, after which the pilot reportedly decided to make an emergency landing at the departure airport but was unable to reach it, leading to the An-3 AK crashing near Olyokminsk.

Additionally, Russian press reports indicate that the passengers on the plane may have been contractors from a gold mining company.
