In Homel, a man with knives did not respond to law enforcers' demands to raise his hands, reports the press service of the Ministry of Interior.
When he was detained, he was handed over to a team of doctors from the regional clinical psychiatric hospital.
During the night of March 23, the police received an urgent message. The caller said that while walking past one of the houses on Mazurau Street, he heard a man screaming from the fifth floor, claiming that he had been given something to drink and that he was being killed.
The police squad that arrived entered the entrance, but then they heard someone coming down to the ground floor. It was a man with knives in his hands. The policemen threatened him with their service weapons, but he did not react to the demand to put the knives down and raise his hands. Only after the policemen threatened to use weapons, the man dropped the knives.
It turned out that the detainee, 38-year-old Homel resident, was convicted of hooliganism in 2021 and detained in 2001 for the sale of an explosive device. Last year he was brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the anti-alcohol law. He lived with his mother, who went to the countryside for a while.
The man was handed over to a team of doctors from the regional clinical psychiatric hospital.
An investigation is being carried out, the materials of which will be sent to investigators for a legal assessment of the actions of the townsman.
