A new earthquake has been recorded in central Turkey, with shocks felt in the country's capital Ankara.

The Euro-Mediterranean seismological centre estimated its magnitude as 7.7, the Turkish seismological centre of Kandilli - as 4.2. In addition, the earthquake was felt in Syria, in particular in Damascus and Latakia, as well as in Lebanon's Beirut and in Iraq's Baghdad.

As the Charter97.org website wrote, in the morning of Monday, February 6, a powerful earthquake occurred on the border between Turkey and Syria. As many as 1,200 casualties have been reported.
