Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Head Naryshkin Sets Moscow Up In Front Of Slovakia

After his words, the Russian Federation was accused of interfering in the parliamentary elections and the ambassador was summoned "on the carpet".

Slovakia has accused the country of Russia of interfering in the parliamentary elections held in the country the day before. The state's Foreign Ministry said it had summoned a representative of the Russian embassy to protest against Moscow's "unacceptable interference".

This is related to a recent statement by the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin. It is stated on the website of the Slovak foreign Ministry.

Prior to the announcement of the election results, Naryshkin called the Progressive Slovakia party "a proxy of the United States" and said that Washington had allegedly "increased its interference in the internal political situation in Slovakia."

Naryshkin said that the US had allegedly increased its interference in the election and called for "putting aside the chimera of morality and using any means to achieve the required result".

By the way, the parliamentary elections were won by the pro-Russian Smer-SD party, whose leader Robert Fitzo promised to cut off military aid to Ukraine.

"The Department of Diplomacy strongly protests against the false statement by Russian intelligence that casts doubt on the integrity of free and democratic elections in Slovakia. We consider such deliberately spread disinformation unacceptable interference of the Russian Federation in the electoral process in the Slovak Republic, which guarantees its citizens a fair and transparent electoral process as an independent, sovereign and democratic state," the department said in a statement.

It also called on Moscow to stop disinformation activities aimed at Slovakia. "Such actions undermine mutual relations and also contradict the principles of international relations," it added.
