Russian Invaders Abduct CEO Of Zaporizhzhia NPP

He was taken to an unknown destination.

Ihor Murashov, General Director of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, was detained by a Russian patrol on the way from the station to Enerhodar. The occupiers stopped the car, forcibly detained and blindfolded the man, and took him away in an unknown direction.

It is reported by RBC-Ukraine with a reference to the statement of Energoatom President Petro Kotin.

There has been no information regarding the whereabouts of Ihor Murashov yet.

“The General Director of the Zaporizhzhia NPP is a licensed person — he bears the main and exclusive responsibility for the nuclear and radiation safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. His detention poses a threat to the operation of Europe's largest nuclear power plant,” Kotin said.

He called for the immediate release of the head of the station, and his return to the service at the nuclear power plant.

“I appeal in particular to the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, Head of the WANO NPP Tom Mitchell with a call to use all possible measures to urgently release Ihor Murashov from the captivity of the Russian occupiers, and return him to his official duties,” Kotin added.
