Iran Reacts To Crisis Staged By Belarusian Regime At EU Border

Tehran has notified the official Minsk.

Iran has expressed concern over the situation with Iranian citizens who are stuck on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. This statement was made by the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh. He noted that Iran "has officially notified the Belarusian side of its serious concern over the situation with Iranian citizens trapped at the border."

- After the Ministry of Foreign Affairs became aware of the situation [with the citizens of Iran], the Iranian Embassy in Belarus was instructed to urgently address this issue. The embassy immediately contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant Belarusian authorities to obtain additional information on the situation of our compatriots trapped on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, and to resolve their problems. During these calls, the embassy called on competent Belarusian institutions to cooperate, - Saeed Khatibzadeh said.

Also, a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the delegation of the embassy went to the border areas, where, according to some information, the citizens of this country should be.

- We are confident that the Belarusian government will cooperate within the framework of friendly relations between Tehran and Minsk. The Iranian Foreign Ministry will also seriously deal with this issue until the problems of compatriots are resolved.
