The site got back up and running.
On Wednesday, June 24, there was no access to the site of Belarusian Radio Racyja much of the day. The employees were also unable to access its administration system, baj.by reports.
During the day, when trying to access the information resource of Belarusian Radio Racyja (racyja.com), the message "Error 521" was appearing in the browser. This error occurs when a web server suddenly loses contact with the CloudFlare service. A lot of online resources use this service to provide additional protection against DDoS attacks and to speed up content download on their sites. CloudFlare provides this by redirecting traffic to the website using the cloud proxy server.
The distributed denial of service (DDos) attack is typically performed by a botnet that continuously generates a large number of packets or requests to the target system, which eventually leads to saturation.
There may be two reasons why your web server has lost contact with CloudFlare:
- the server does not respond or is unavailable - in this case you need to check the server;
- The web server blocks CloudFlare requests. Sometimes the hosting security system interprets persistent connections from the same IP addresses as a DDoS attack. As a result, CloudFlare limits or directly blocks speed for these addresses.
To date, the site of Belarusian Radio Racyja has resumed its work.
