European Belarus Activist Could Die In Prison
Andrei Voynich

Andrei Voynich has serious chronic diseases, he is on the list of those waiting for the liver transplantation.

Activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Andrei Voynich was arrested after he had participated in the pre-electoral picket, held at the Kamarouski market in Minsk on May 31. The Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk centenced him to 15 days of administrative arrest. Now, the man is held in the Center for Isolation of Law-Breakers in the Akrestsin Street in Minsk, reports the press-center of the European Belarus civil campaign.

Andrei Voynich has serious chronic diseases: cirrhosis, hepatitis B and diabetes mellitus. The activist needs constant medical supervision and treatment. He is on the list of those waiting for the liver transplantation.

In the prison in the Akrestsin Street there are no elementary conditions for holding people with such diseases. Being there is a threat to the health and life of Andrei Voynich. He could die in prison.

The detention of the activist is senseless and illegal, he did not violate public order, as he took part in the legal election picket.

We demand the immediate release of Andrei Voynich!
