The Worker of Hrodna Azot Told About the Strike at the Enterprise

The shift has not been handed over for the third day.

Andrei Khanevich, a machine operator from Urea-3, chairman of the BNP primary organization at Hrodna Azot, told the Country for Life telegram channel about the strike at the enterprise:

"On Tuesday morning, the workers of the Urea-4 workshop refused to accept the shift. The shift has not been handed over for the third day.

There are four shifts in the workshop, which are on duty at the "TsUP." They change every twelve hours, work from eight in the morning until eight in the evening, and vice versa. Each consists of five to six operators and a shift supervisor.

On the night of Monday to Tuesday, shift personnel came to the workplace but did not start work. The morning shift did the same - at least one shift worker in this shop was bullied in a paddy wagon on Monday, and his comrades show solidarity.

All this time, the higher-ranking engineers and technicians are at the control panel. Until an abnormal situation occurs, that's enough. If an emergency situation occurs, then the work of the entire shift team will be needed. This is reminiscent of pilots' work - as far everything is normal, the autopilot manages, but the pilots are constantly ready to switch to manual control.

Here you need to understand that the guys care about their workshop; they don't want something to happen to it. And they are at work to help stop the shop if something happens.

They are determined to negotiate, but there is no one to represent them. They have three political demands that the independent trade union cannot pass on further and the employer does not want to.

Dialogue with Chief Engineer Siarhei Selivonik:

- You need to work.

- The law needs to work. If they follow the law, we will follow the job descriptions.

- I cannot consider your political demands.

- Do not accept them; submit for consideration.

- All, stop the shop.

- No. It is you who must give the order to stop the workshop due to lack of personnel; without an order, this is a matter of jurisdiction.

The enterprise's situation is aggravated by the fact that it is not known how many shift personnel will come to the workplace. Some are going to write a letter of resignation: "This cannot be tolerated."

Automation can stop the workshop, and within 24 hours, it can be restarted without much problem. It will be more difficult later.

There is no one to replace the shift personnel. There is an official internship for a new person for six months, and another six months is needed for him to become an independent worker.

Management called retirees, who had worked in the shop before. But according to the instructions, after a break in work of a year or more, the employee must go through the same six-month internship and pass all the exams.

Today, the day shift organized a meeting and voted on whether to continue the strike. They will continue."
