The fighter against the battery factory - on the situation in Brest.

One of the opponents of the construction of the battery factory in Brest told Radio Racyja why the case against him and his son had failed.

We remind that a criminal case against two opponents of the construction of the battery factory near Brest - Maisei Mazko and his son Dzianis, who were suspected of "illegal trafficking of ammunition", was recently terminated. They were informed by the Brest Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee that the criminal prosecution had been stopped for lack of evidence of a crime.

Maisei Mazko commented on the situation:

- When in April this year, the car, which I was driving, was stopped by traffic policemen and they found a bag of bullets in the salon, I immediately told these people that they had nasty methods. But at the same time, I understood why that was happening.

Our initiative group, which was fighting against the construction of the battery factory in the city, was probably a bur in the throat for the authorities, so they decided to press the most active ones. People were given numerous fines, and they decided to use this way to put pressure on me. Of course, that was a nasty case, although, frankly speaking, I thought it would fall apart faster.

- Did you really pose such a danger to the authorities that they decided to make such a provocation?

- Maybe they didn't want to bring the case to court, but if it exists, it's possible to keep a person on the hook. The initiative group was working very actively. It is possible that they wanted to discredit all opponents of the plant construction with the help of my criminal case.

And now, as we can see, the situation has changed. We have achieved that the plant does not work, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the management of the company that constructed the plant. Although there is a fear that the plant may be put back into operation.
