Mass Fight Near ‘Mayak’ Cafe In Minsk: Bats, Power Saw

The forces were unequal.

Eye-witnesses recorded a video where the noise of a power saw is clearly heard, onliner.by writes.

“This is the ‘Mayak’ cafe in the Mayakouski Street on Friday night,” user neumatici_autocar writes. “There was a fight in the cafe, and then several cars arrived for help.”

The eye-witness claims the newly arrived fighters were equipped with bats. “Later, more cars arrived, and a guy with a power saw jumped out.”

He also writes that “seemingly two or three people were stabbed, and two hit with a bat in the faces.”

The police commented on the incident in the following way:

- Two companies were having a good time on the night from Friday to Saturday. The conflict in question took place already on Saturday, October 6, - official representative of the Leninski district police department of Minsk Tatsiana Kavaliova said. “One company united three guys of the 1992nd birth year, the other consisted of two guys born in 1985 and 1987. All of them were residents of the Serabranka micro-district of Minsk.

The verbal conflict started inside the cafe. No one has managed to explain the reason so far. When people drink alcohol, there’s ususally no need for a reason to start a conflict. They went outside and continued the argument. The forces turned out to be unequal. Both companies started making phone calls.

- The brother of one of the men came to join the elder company. He was of the 1977 birth year. The forces became equal – three on three. The fight began. During the fight, the father of one of the younger guys arrived. The man of the 1969 year of birth came with a bat.

He started beating the previous newly arrived man, the one that was born in 1977. Having been hit with a bat, the man went to his car and took out the power saw.

- It is being clarified whether any bodily injuries were caused by the power saw. The information about hospitalization of the man born in 1977, who was beaten with a bat, has been confirmed. A criminal case has been started against the man born in 1969 under part 3 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus “Hooliganism.” He is detained.
