Political Prisoner Uladzimir Labkovich's Flat Sold At Auction

Three bidders were interested in the property.

On April 23, the Minsk flat of political prisoner Uladzimir Labkovich was sold at the auction of BelYurObespechenie. There were three bidders for this property.

Uladzimir Labkovich is a lawyer of the Viasna Human Rights Centre and coordinator of the Human Rights Defenders for Free Elections campaign. He was detained on July 14, 2021. Later, the political prisoner was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment in a reinforced regime colony.

On April 23, the two-room flat of Uladzimir Labkovich, located in the house № 43 in Tukhachevsky Street in Minsk (this is Zavadski district), was sold at an auction. The flat has a total area of 43.9 m². The housing was arrested by the decision of the investigation.

The auction started with 134,000 rubles, three people took part in it. In the end, the property was purchased for 145,390 rubles.

We remind you that 1/7 share of the administrative premises in Minsk, 16, Lazhynskaya Street, was also put up for auction on April 23. This property belongs to a member of the Viasna council, vice-president of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) Valiantsin Stsefanovich. He was detained on July 14, 2021 and tried under the same articles as Uladzimir Labkovich. The court sentenced the human rights defender to nine years of imprisonment in a penal colony under a reinforced regime. However, there were no willing buyers to purchase this property.
