"Shocking Statements": New Details Of Double Murder In Babruisk

The high-profile murder of two girls in Babruisk is being discussed by the whole of Belarus.

In the afternoon of July 23, the Investigative Committee reported some crime details, in the evening, the ONT channel showed a report from the scene.

"The suspect is already giving statements, they are shocking. And the operational video cannot just be shown – everything looks horrible," – the TV channel reported.

"The operational group of the Investigative Committee central office has been working at the scene for three days. The information about the body fragmentation is false. The both victims’ wounds are stab and slash ones, they both had been hit with a blunt object – the forensic medical examination will give a more accurate picture," – Investigative Committee official representative Yuliya Hancharova says.

The suspect has already been detained and questioned – this is a man of 36 years old, unemployed, who was previously convicted for most serious crimes – causing serious bodily harm, robbery, theft.

In the evening, the ONT television channel showed a report about the double murder in Babruisk.

"The man brutally killed the girls – he kept stabbing one of the girls, until she died. The second one he hammered to death. Their neighbors did not hear anything. Aliaksandr’s friends have told us terrifying details about his past. He had killed an old man living next door in the house cellar (according to other media reports, he had committed that murder when he was a minor) and he had ripped open his friend’s belly. The neighbors saw the suspect calmly sharing the details about the murder. He showed how he had killed the victims during the investigation experiment. Only his motives are still not clear. The investigators are now following all the possible clues," – the channel informed.

We remind that on July 20, at about 7.00, an unknown girl called 102. She said that an unknown person was trying to break into the bathroom, where she had locked together with her friend, and asked for help. The girl could not say the exact address, only the name of the street – Lynkou street – and the apartment number. Later it turned out that she had been mistaken.

Police officers checked all the apartment buildings on Lynkou street and the adjacent territory, as well as entertainment establishments and studied the records of security cameras

It turned out that two girls, 26 and 27 years old, met an unknown man in one of the Babruisk cafes and left the café with him. The man was a 36-year-old unemployed from Babruisk, who was previously convicted serious crimes. Soon, he was detained.

Police found corpses of two girls who were brutally killed in the bathroom of the man's apartment. One of them was the woman who had called the police.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 139 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (Murder). This article provides for imprisonment for eight to twenty-five years, or life imprisonment, or death penalty.
