Belarusians Vividly Sense Price Hikes

More and more Belarusians feel the inflation.

The National Bank published a study of inflationary expectations and consumer behavior of the population. More and more Belarusians feel the price increase, the Belarusians and Market website writes.

According to the results of the survey conducted in May, only 8.8% noted a slight increase in prices. The number of such Belarusians decreased by 2.8 % in comparison with February. At the same time, the number of respondents who assessed inflation as high increased by 1.8 % up to 49.8%. Also, the number of those who assessed the price growth as moderate increased from 38.7% to 39.4%

The perceived inflation rate rose from 12.4% in February to 12.9% in May.

The number of Belarusians expecting a slowdown in price growth fell in May in comparison with February from 23.9 to 20.4%. 64.4% of Belarusians expect that the prices will continue to grow. Their number increased by 4.6 % in comparison with February. The number of those who expect a faster price growth reduced from 11.9% to 11%.
