Over the past three years, 16 executives, who were included in the personnel register of the president, were caught in power abuse in Vitsebsk region. This was discussed at a meeting of the regional executive committee, where they considered measures to combat corruption in local government, the Prosecutor General's Office reports.

As the regional prosecutor Vadzim Sushchynski notes, corruption crimes in the region are “mostly domestic in nature”. For example, out of 110 such offenses detected in Vitsebsk for 9 months, 33 crimes were committed by two veterinarians working in the Smalenski market. They took bribes for issuing permits.

A teacher from one of the Vitsebsk universities received cash rewards from students in the amount of 3 to 25 rubles for passing exams.

Construction, transport, agriculture, education, health and public administration are among the areas most prone to corruption in Vitsebsk region.
