Videofact: Dzmitry Palienka Met In Minsk

The political prisoner’s friends and associates were waiting for him at the station.

Prisoner of conscience, social activist Dzmitry Palienka was released from correctional colony No. 2 of Bobruisk in the morning of October 24. Journalists and the political prisoner’s friends met him at the railway station in Minsk, Belsat reports.

We remind that in October 2016, Dzmitry Palienka was sentenced to two years in prison with suspension of the sentence for two years for allegedly assaulting a policeman during the “Critical Mass” cycling event, which was taking place in Minsk. In addition, the activist was charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 343 of the Criminal Code (production and distribution of pornographic materials or items of a pornographic nature).

Last year, Dzmitry Palienka was arrested again: on April 7, 2017, the court canceled the suspension and sent the activist to serve the remainder of his term in the Babruisk colony.

In the colony, Dzmitry Palienka was regularly placed in a punishment cell, and the administration put psychological pressure on him.

The international human rights organization Amnesty International recognized Dzmitry Palienka a prisoner of conscience.
