Policeman Fired Shot In Minsk Dweller Who Tried To Take His Weapon Away

The incident occurred in an apartment in Paulina Miadzelka street.

A squad of policemen was trying to calm a drunken company in one of the capital’s apartments. A drunk man tried to take away the service weapon from one of the policemen, warning shots did not stop him – he received a leg wound. This was reported by the Minsk city Directorate of Internal Affairs.

The call to the police was made on October 1. The callers complained about the unknown, who were making noise in an apartment in Paulina Miadzelka street and throwing bottles out of the windows.

The squad of policemen found seven people in the apartment, two of whom were women.

“Later it was established that all of them had been repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility earlier,” – the police notes.

The police officers asked on what basis they were staying in that apartment and why they were making noise.

“All those in the apartment started to behave aggressively and were provoking a fight. The police officers warned them repeatedly about the possible use of physical force, special means and weapons, but it did not stop the citizens in the apartment. One of them tried to take possession of the police officer’s service weapon, which caused warning shots to the side, however, this measure did not reassure the assailant, and the policeman was forced to make one shot in the attacker's leg,” – the police informs.

After that, six people were detained and taken to the detention center in Akrestsin street. A man with a penetrating wound of his left leg was taken to hospital.

The legal assessment is being given to the detainees’ actions.
