Residents of the border region in the Gomel Oblast are outraged by the constant flights of Russian drones.
Russian combat drones continue to be regularly spotted in areas of the Gomel region bordering Ukraine. Confirmation of such incidents "Flagstok" finds on social media. It is clear that the situation has already gotten so bad for residents that some are not afraid of reprisals; they are filming and posting videos of the loud hum of a passing drone.
The sound of a “Shahed” is clearly audible in the videos. The video creators and commenters are outraged by the noise and say that the UAVs are flying toward Ukraine. In one of the settlements, residents recently reported seeing at least five drone flyovers at a time.
Comments also note that the UAVs are flying at very low altitudes. This is done to make them harder to detect by radar.
One of the latest such videos is from the Loevsky District. The author, who posted the video on June 8, is emotionally and profanely outraged that a UAV is flying by with a loud noise at 4 a.m. Judging by his comments, this is not the first time this has happened.
“Do you think I’m awake for no reason? They buzz so loudly that the walls are vibrating,” the author wrote in the comments.
It is not known for certain whether Belarusian airspace was violated in those instances. Monitors and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have only recorded the constant movement of groups of Russian UAVs along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. They are launched from the Bryansk region heading west.
As Flagstok reported, this tactic is aimed at complicating the work of Ukrainian air defense and using Belarusian airspace as cover. The UAVs fly in a column (chain) parallel to the border to avoid early detection and penetrate deep into the western or central regions of Ukraine.
