Whitkoff gave it to Russia.
During the visit of US Special Representative Steve Whitkoff to Moscow on Wednesday, August 6, Moscow allegedly received a "very favorable offer" from the US administration.
This was reported on Thursday, August 7, by the Polish publication Onet, citing sources.
The key points of the proposal are said to be:
A ceasefire in Ukraine, not a peace agreement;
Factual recognition of Russia's territorial gains (by postponing discussions on the issue for 49 or 99 years);
Removal of most sanctions imposed on Russia and, in the long term, resumption of energy cooperation, i.e. imports of Russian gas and oil.
The package also does not include a guarantee of non-expansion of NATO;
Moscow also did not receive a promise to end military support for Ukraine.
But, according to Onet, this last point is allegedly accepted by the Russian side.
On Wednesday, August 6, a meeting between special envoy of U.S. President Whitkoff and Russian dictator Putin took place. It lasted about three hours.
On the same day, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky held a phone conversation with Trump. European leaders also took part in the talks. According to the President, the common position of Ukraine and partners is absolutely clear: the war must end.
