The plane was flying from Moscow to Phuket.
Evgenia Obolashvili, editor of the operations department of the propaganda TV channel Moscow 24, was fired after a video she filmed in the newsroom circulated online.
According to Censor.NET, a Red Wings plane flying from Moscow to Phuket had an engine catch fire immediately after takeoff, and the pilots gave a distress signal and landed in Domodedovo.
In the short clip, she discusses with her colleagues the news of the passenger plane that made the distress call and asks what kind of story development they would like to see.
"We have a passenger plane here that made a distress call. We're here with Karina saying, here's something that would have happened by now, so we could have done our job properly. Operationally. Yes, Ilyuh? Do you want it to be stuffed? Look at his satisfied face."
After the video was published in her own Telegram channel, it quickly spread among bloggers, including a large audience.
When the video went viral, the journalist deleted it and closed her channel.
The channel promptly announced her dismissal.
