Italy Has Canceled A Performance By A Putinist Opera Singer

Ildar Abdrazakov is a confidant of the Russian dictator.

The Italian Teatro Filarmonico in Verona has canceled a performance by Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov after the amphitheater's foundation came out against him as a supporter of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This is according to ANSA.

Abdrazakov will not perform his role in the opera "Don Giovanni," which was scheduled from January 18 to 25, 2025.

This was the amphitheater's response to protests against the performance of the Russian bass, who is considered close to Putin's positions.

In 2024, Abdrazakov became Putin's proxy for the presidential election, artistic director of the theater in annexed Sevastopol and a member of the Presidential Council for Culture.
