The government of Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala has decided to resign at its meeting. This was announced by the chairman of the cabinet, the ČTK news agency reports.
The politician said that on Thursday, November 6, he will present his resignation letter to the president of the republic Peter Pavel.
According to the Czech constitution, the government resigned after the conclusion of the constituent session of the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of the country's parliament, elections to which were held on October 3 and 4. It is expected to be tasked by the president to fulfill its duties until a new cabinet is appointed. The new government will start work no later than the middle of next month.
On November 3, the Czech parties ANO, SPD and Motorist, which won the majority of votes in the parliamentary elections held in early October, formed a government coalition.
The Czech president earlier urged fellow citizens not to leave the country "at the mercy of Russia."
