Belgium is discussing the possibility of activating the fourth article of the NATO Washington Treaty for security consultations with alliance partners. This was announced by Defense Minister Theo Franken, reports 7sur7.
The occasion was the drone incidents that caused all airports in the country to be closed for two hours on November 4. On Nov. 6, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever announced the convening of a national security council to discuss the drone situation. Problems with drones at European airports continue, and EU authorities suspect Russia in these incidents.
In October, Lithuania temporarily closed the Šalčininkai and Miadininkai checkpoints on the border with Belarus because of an incident involving weather probes used for smuggling.
