The restriction package could work even before approval.
Official Vilnius has presented its proposals on how the new sanctions applied to Belarus should look like at the international level, said Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kiastutis Budrys.
"We have presented our package of proposals, containing both specific wording and effect," the news portal Delfi quoted the foreign minister as saying. - Lithuania is not new to the topic of sanctions. Both the packages of measures and the arguments we have presented are taken seriously. We are trusted."
The official said Vilnius hopes that "perhaps the package being prepared will have an impact even before the final decision on sanctions is made."
It is possible, Budrys said, that Alexander Lukashenko's regime will "draw conclusions" before "all these measures" are tried on.
It's not specified what areas the proposals on new restrictive measures concern.
In late October, the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy said that he hoped for progress in the European Commission on the issue of sanctions against Belarus by the end of November.
