The Prime Minister has proposed a revision of the three post-World War II principles.
Japan is considering the possibility of placing American nuclear weapons in the country. This would involve revising Japan's three non-nuclear principles in place since World War II.
The newspaper Mainichi reports this, citing Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae.
It is noted that she favors initiating a debate around Japan's three long-term "non-nuclear principles" - "not to possess," "not to produce," and "not to deploy" nuclear weapons.
According to the publication, the prime minister is proposing to revise these principles to allow the deployment of U.S. nuclear strategic weapons on Japanese bases. Such a move would be a historic reversal of the pacifist nuclear policy that has existed in Japan since World War II.
