North Korea Has Run Out Of Shells For The Russian Army

It's all about what needs repair.

North Korea has exhausted its stockpile of shells to supply Moscow, as evidenced by statistics for the last period. At the same time, Pyongyang has launched mass production of FPV drones.

The deputy head of the Defense Ministry's GSD Vadim Skibitsky said this, Reuters reported.

DPRK has cut supplies to Russia

Millions of artillery shells from the DPRK helped Russia maintain its rate of fire on the front lines in 2024, but this year the number of shipments has more than halved.

The reason for the drop in shipments, Skibitsky said, is Pyongyang has exhausted its stockpile of shells for Russia. He also named the amount of ammunition that North Korea has sent to Moscow since 2023 - we are talking about 6.5 million artillery shells.

The deputy head of the Defense Ministry's GSD claims: in September this year there were no recorded deliveries of shells to Russia from North Korea, but some were sent in October. However, about half of the ammunition last month was so old that it had to be sent to factories in Russia for improvement.

Pyongyang has launched mass production of FPV drones

Skibitsky also added that North Korea has started mass production of FPV drones on its territory, as well as larger medium-range combat drones, although he did not specify the scale.

"They are learning, they are learning their experience (in this war) to expand production on their own territory," he said.

Reuters recalls how thousands of North Korean military personnel fought alongside Russians in the Kursk region last year after Ukraine's invasion to try to ease pressure on their forces elsewhere and create leverage in peace talks.

North Korea has acknowledged its involvement in the events in Ukraine, saying its role "helps to preserve world peace in the face of Western aggression." However, the DPRK did not provide any details or respond to requests for comment on its involvement.
