Drone Attack Halts Rosneft's Saratov Refinery Until The End Of The Month

A large oil tank was damaged.

Rosneft's Saratov refinery halted oil refining on November 11 after a drone (UAV) attack that was repeated on November 14, two industry sources told Reuters.

They said the refinery is completely shut down tentatively by the end of the month.

A report of a UAV raid in the region appeared on the night of November 11 in the Telegram channel of Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin, but it did not specify the nature of the damage, noted The Moscow Times.

"As a result of the UAV attack, there is damage to civilian infrastructure. All emergency services are working on the site," the governor wrote.

According to industry sources, the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit with a nominal capacity of 20,000 tons per day, the only one at the enterprise, could have been damaged on November 11 due to a fire caused by a UAV crash.

At the time of the attack on November 14, a large oil tank on the enterprise's territory caught fire, according to the source and materials posted on social media.

Busargin said in a Telegram feed on Friday that "as a result of the UAV attack there is damage to civilian infrastructure facilities in Saratov."

In 2024, the Saratov refinery refined 5.8 million tons of oil, accounting for 2.2 percent of total oil refining in Russia; it produced 1.2 million tons of motor gasoline, 1.9 million tons of diesel fuel and 1.0 million tons of fuel oil.
