The U.S. Department of War has already begun to implement it.
US President Donald Trump has ordered an operation against drug cartels in the western hemisphere. The Department of War has already begun to execute it.
It is reported in X by U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
"Today I am announcing the launch of Operation Southern Spear. This mission, led by Joint Task Force Southern Lance and U.S. Southern Command (Southcom) protects our homeland, removes narco-terrorists from our hemisphere, and keeps our homeland safe from the drugs that are killing our people," Hegseth wrote."
He also noted that the western hemisphere is "America's neighborhood."
Trump fights drug cartels
The number of people dying from drugs in the U.S. is increasing every year. In particular, from a dangerous opiate like fentanyl, which was one of the main reasons for imposing 100% duties against China.
The Trump administration believed that Beijing was not doing enough to combat the supply of substances used to make fentanyl to the US. Cocaine is also a major problem in the US, as is its cheaper "crack" version, at a time when the popularity of other drugs is also gaining momentum.
Venezuela is considered by the White House chief of staff to be one of the main suppliers of drugs to the US. In August, Donald Trump signed a secret directive allowing direct military operations against Latin American drug cartels, which have been recognized as foreign terrorist organizations.
