Syrian authorities intend to bring the dictator to justice.

The new Syrian authorities intend to hold former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad accountable, despite concerns expressed by Russia.

The new Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa told The Washington Post.

"The issue of Bashar al-Assad is a concern for Russia, and our relationship with Russia is just beginning. We will defend our right as Syrians to call for Assad to be held accountable," the head of state promised.
