Washington will attempt regime change on the island.
Political regime change in the Republic of Cuba is implied by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump as a second goal after the overthrow of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro. Such a scenario was allowed in an article for The Foreign Policy magazine by William Leogrande, a professor of government at American University, an expert on Latin America and former director at the National Security Archive at George Washington University.
"While building up military power against Venezuela, the U.S. is also taking a closer look at Cuba," the expert wrote.
In Leogrande's view, the states hope that cutting off oil supplies to Cubans from Venezuela will lead to the collapse of the socialist republic. The professor believes an attack on Venezuela is inevitable in the current situation, as "ten warships and ten thousand troops [of the United States] are already deployed in the Caribbean Sea."
