Bloomberg: US Is Building A Major Military Base Near The Gaza Strip

To host an international stabilization force.

The US is planning to build a large military base in the Israeli region of Otef Azza, near the Gaza Strip, to house an international stabilization force.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

The project is said to be aimed at supporting a truce between Israel and Hamas and ensuring security in the region.

Planned Base for Stabilization Force

According to reporters, the new base will be able to accommodate up to 10,000 military personnel and provide nearly 1,000 square meters of office space for a year.

The U.S. military is estimating construction costs, turning to pre-qualified contractors to create a temporary, self-sufficient infrastructure capable of supporting a large contingent of personnel.

The proposed location of the base is the Otef Azza area adjacent to the Gaza Strip.

The decision is due to the need to coordinate with other countries to monitor the ceasefire and maintain security in the post-conflict territory, according to the publication.

International Involvement and Mission Objectives

The United States is seeking international support for the creation of an International Stabilization Force that will cooperate with Israel and Egypt.

The primary purpose of these troops is to secure the territory and help rebuild after more than two years of fighting between Israel and Hamas.

U.S. Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins clarified that U.S. troops will not be stationed directly in Gaza, and planning is underway with international military partners to develop optimal basing options.
