The U.S. president's position was influenced by King Charles III.

President Vladimir Zelensky has revealed that Britain's King King Charles III helped mend his relationship with US President Donald Trump, he also described the British monarch as "very loyal" to Ukraine, The Guardian reported.

Zelensky said King Charles III played an important role behind the scenes in encouraging the U.S. president to be more supportive of Ukraine after a tumultuous Oval Office meeting in February in front of cameras, when Trump publicly intimidated Zelensky and kicked him out of the White House.

Trump held a meeting with the king during a state visit to the UK in September.

"I don't know all the details, but as I understand it, His Majesty sent President Trump some important signals," Zelensky said.

He noted that Trump respects the king and considers him a "very important" person, which he believes is a sincere compliment that is not given to "many people."

"His Majesty is very sensitive to our people. Perhaps 'sensitive' is not quite the right word. He is very supportive of us," Zelensky said.

The president also said that, unlike other Western leaders, he is not "afraid" of Donald Trump and denied reports that their last meeting in Washington was tense, adding that he has good relations with the US president.

The president denied media claims that Trump threw away battlefield maps during a stormy conversation in October at the White House, where he arrived with hopes of securing deliveries of US Tomahawk cruise missiles. "He didn't drop anything. I'm sure," Zelensky said. He described their relationship as "normal," "businesslike" and "constructive."
