Zelensky: US Unblocks Patriot Purchases For Ukraine

Not just missiles, but systems.

The United States has unblocked the possibility of Kiev purchasing Patriot air defense systems and missiles for them, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told a news conference.

"The Americans have unblocked the possibility of purchasing Patriot, not only missiles, but also systems. And the question is solely about money. So there are pluses, you see, and there are minuses," he was quoted as saying by "Novini.Live".

Ukraine's winter defense depends on air defense missiles, which are purchased in large part from the United States, Zelensky wrote later in his Telegram channel. Among Kiev's allies are "very responsible countries" that understand this and have given funding under the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) program. He listed Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, the Baltic states and others.

Zelensky said Kiev has begun renegotiating with its allies over their contribution to the arms purchase. "Because we don't see speed from other countries. Unfortunately. So the situation depends on these countries for today," the Ukrainian president said.
