Ex-political Prisoner And His Wife Detained In Gomel On A Criminal Case

They're in pre-trial detention.

Ex-political prisoner Stanislav Mochalov and his wife Svetlana Yakubovich have been detained in Homel on a criminal case. They are in pre-trial detention, writes the human rights center "Viasna".

It's unknown exactly what actions are incriminated against Svetlana and Stanislav.

According to human rights activists, Svetlana is charged under the article "conspiracy to seize power" (Article 357 of the Criminal Code). She was detained at the end of last year.

The detention of Stanislav was not previously known. Last time he was tried under articles on "gross violation of order and violence or threat of violence against a policeman" (Articles 342 and 364 of the Criminal Code). The man was released at the end of December 2023.

At the time of his first imprisonment, he and Svetlana got married. It is unknown what Stanislav is accused of now.
