Vilnius Airport Was Closed Because Of Balloons From The Territory Of Belarus

Twenty-five balloons violated Lithuanian airspace.
The airspace over the airport of Vilnius was temporarily closed due to the detection of balloons coming from the territory of Belarus. This was stated by the director of the National Center for Crisis Management of Lithuania Darius Butt on the air of radio LRT.
According to him, about 13 such objects were heading towards Vilnius airport, and a total of 25 balloons launched from the Belarusian territory violated the airspace of Lithuania. Both arriving and departing flights were affected by the temporary restrictions.
The Vilnius airport administration said about 30 flights were canceled and about 6,000 passengers were affected by the restrictions. Most incoming flights were diverted to airports in neighboring Latvia and Poland. One flight from Copenhagen was forced to return to Denmark. Throughout Sunday, October 5, flight delays are possible due to crew and aircraft rotation failures.
