Budanov: Kiev Has Changed Tactics

The head of Ukrainian intelligence told about two directions of strikes against Russia.

Ukraine is focusing on two key areas in its strategy of deep strikes against Russia. One of them is the defeat of the Russian oil industry, and the second is strikes on the defense industry.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Kirill Budanov told Italian newspaper Il Foglio in an interview. According to him, Kiev has changed the way it conducts warfare. Resourcefulness, innovation and strategy have allowed Ukraine to hold the front line and launch deep strikes against military and strategic targets on Russian territory.

In recent days, Ukraine's armed forces have managed to strike the Bryansk chemical plant, which produces gunpowder, explosives and rocket fuel components, and an oil refinery in Dagestan. The difference between Ukrainian and Russian attacks is obvious.

"We are not waging a targeted war against Russian Federation society," Budanov emphasized.

The GUR chief added that Ukrainian deep strikes are already yielding results, as confirmed by data on Russian exports of hydrocarbons and oil products. Ukraine has almost excluded Russia from the gasoline export sector.

This success is due to the fact that Russian air defense assets are concentrated along the border, in the occupied Ukrainian territories, and for the defense of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

"When you bypass the system deployed along our border, the flights of our drones over the Russian Federation are always unproblematic," Budanov said.
