Media: Hamas Will Hand Over The Gaza Strip To The Control Of A "government Of Technocrats"

The agreement was reached at a meeting in Cairo.

Palestinian political movements have agreed to transfer the administration of the Gaza Strip to the independent Technocrats Committee. This was announced in a joint statement by Palestinian organizations following a meeting in Cairo on October 24, reports Times of Israel.

The committee will be composed of Palestinians and will take over the management of key services with the support of Arab countries and international organizations, "on the basis of transparency and accountability." The various factions will work on a common position to solve the problems of the Palestinian cause.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The aim of the event was to agree on a "national strategy" for the revival of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. Hamas, meanwhile, held separate talks with the Fatah leadership over the second phase of a plan to end the war in Gaza, which includes handing over governance to an independent body of Palestinian technocrats.

The statement also emphasized the need to extend the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, support the UN resolution on the deployment of an international peacekeeping force, the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, the issues of disarming Hamas and its exclusion from the political process were left out of the statement, noting only the need for joint action by all Palestinian groups.
