Belarusian Banks Are Included In The 19th Package Of EU Sanctions Against Russia

(Updated) So far, four banks have been under EU sanctions.

The 19th sanctions package of the European Union against Russia includes Belarusian banks, according to Reuters, writes "Pozirk".

The new sanctions include branches of Alfa Bank, VTB and Sber in Belarus.

According to the agency, the EU countries approved the 19th package of sanctions against Russia for the war against Ukraine, which includes a ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas, reported on October 22 by the Danish Presidency of the EU Council.

Belinvestbank, Belagroprombank, Dabrabyt Bank and Development Bank have been under EU sanctions so far.

In July 2025, these banks once again fell under the restrictive measures. The EU Council extended "the existing ban on specialized financial communications to a ban on transactions with certain Belarusian credit institutions and their subsidiaries in Belarus, which play a significant role in the Belarusian financial system and are already subject to restrictive measures imposed by the Union."

The Development Bank of Belarus, Belagroprombank and Dabrabyt Bank were officially disconnected from the SWIFT system back in March 2022.

The European Union decided to stop providing these banks with SWIFT services on March 9 in response to Belarus' participation in Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Earlier, these banks, as well as Belarusbank and Belinvestbank were subjected to other restrictive measures of the EU.

Belinvestbank was disconnected from SWIFT in June 2022.
